Comprehensive Hygiene Program

Our team at Compass Dental is proud to offer a comprehensive dental hygiene program to our clients. When our patients visit our office in Campbell River, they can expect to have a thorough evaluation of their overall oral health, including:
● a head and neck examination
● a complimentary Velscope intra-oral cancer screening
● a periodontal (gum and bone) evaluation
● a thorough removal of plaque and tartar from the teeth.

In some cases, our hygienist may determine that the patient’s gums would benefit from “initial therapy.” This is a series of 4 visits in which the hygienist removes tartar build-up while the patient is under local anaesthetic, one corner of the mouth at a time. If the gum tissues do not improve with initial therapy, the patient will be referred to a periodontist (gum specialist) for further evaluation and treatment. The goal of the dental hygiene team is to maintain the periodontal health of their patients using their clinical skills, patient education and a consistent dental hygiene routine tailored to an individual’s needs.
