Treatment:
I.V. Sedation and Nitrous Oxide Sedation
For difficult dental procedures, Dr. Finn offers moderate conscious sedation, sometimes referred to as ‘sleep dentistry.’ At our office in Campbell River, a pre-consultation with our clients will determine whether they are medically able to undergo conscious sedation. We consider it to be a medical procedure, and approach it with care. Dr. Finn has been licensed by the College of Dental Surgeons of BC to administer moderate conscious sedation, and adheres to a strict set of guidelines set out by the governing body. Answers to frequently asked questions about this type of sedation can be found on the BC Dental Association’s website.
Nitrous oxide is another sedation method we use here in Campbell River for patients undergoing complex dental procedures. Commonly known as ‘laughing gas,’ nitrous oxide relaxes the patient, works quickly and wears off immediately. Patients are able to operate a vehicle afterwards and it is widely considered by the dental community to be a safe sedation method.
